(Hong Kong, September 13, 2012) Hang Lung Group Limited (HKSE stock code: 10) and Hang Lung Properties Limited (HKSE stock code: 101) today published their interim reports for the first six months of the financial year of 2012.

In the Chairman’s Letter to Shareholders, Mr Ronnie C. Chan, Chairman of Hang Lung Group Limited and Hang Lung Properties Limited, elaborated on the reasons behind the pleasing performance achieved by the Hong Kong and Mainland operations during the period under review. He also discussed the strategic initiatives that were and would be taken against the backdrop of a new environment today where the world may well have entered a prolonged phase of systemic slowdown.

Despite numerous challenges, the two critical sets of success factors in Hang Lung’s business – project genetics relating to the best location and design, as well as project operation competency – have enabled the companies to remain competitive over the long term and to perform satisfactorily under a variety of different market conditions.

Enjoying a strong balance sheet and having ample financial resources at its disposal, Hang Lung is well prepared to take advantage of upcoming opportunities to buy land, although no undue haste is warranted amidst the prevailing market sentiment. While waiting patiently, the companies will diligently build out the six huge projects on hand on the Mainland and will continue to look for windows of opportunity to offload mature and older non-core properties in Hong Kong with a view to optimizing the investment portfolio.

Moving forward, Forum 66, another world-class Hang Lung project, is set to open in Shenyang on September 28, 2012. The high-end shopping mall will come on stream first, to be followed in the second half of next year by the lower level zone of the office tower. The mall has already been fully let with contracted rents indicating a promising return.

The 2012 interim reports are now available for downloading from the Hang Lung corporate website at www.hanglung.com.
