(Hong Kong, September 26, 2012) Hang Lung Properties Limited (HKSE stock code: 101) today announced that its world-class shopping mall in Jinan, Parc 66, has clinched the Gold Award in the 2012 ICSC Asia Pacific Shopping Center Awards in the category of “New Developments” under the section of “Design and Development”. The project has also won the Gold Award for Sustainable Design in recognition of the significant level of sustainability achieved in its design and construction. This prestigious competition is hosted by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Parc 66’s accolade follows in the footsteps of a similar award won by Palace 66, another of Hang Lung Properties’ development in Shenyang, in the competition last year. As the Gold winner of the 2012 ICSC Asia Pacific Shopping Center Awards, Parc 66 will automatically be entered into ICSC’s VIVA (Vision, Innovation, Value, Achievement) Award Program to compete for the global best of the best award in 2013.
Situated on Quancheng Lu, the city’s “Golden Avenue” in the heart of Jinan, Parc 66 has been a key nexus for the Jinan community since its opening in August 2011. This superlative seven-story, 171,000 square meter leisure and entertainment center has not only become the city’s largest shopping complex, but has also set new lifestyle standards with its superb fashionable facilities and premium services.
Parc 66 takes its design from the surrounding environment -- its undulating roofs, green spaces and curved facades echo the water theme and blend agreeably into the nearby parkland. The two inverted triangular-shaped shopping malls are connected by a gracefully undulating bridge, “The Dragon”, which provides dynamic spaces and convenient access to the different mall areas. Also boosting pedestrian flows to Parc 66 is a footbridge directly connected to nearby Quancheng Square, Jinan’s major leisure spot in the city center.
Hang Lung Properties has employed a proactive sustainability program in the development of Parc 66, which has been planned, designed, constructed and operated with the gold level rating of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Core and Shell Development issued by the U.S. Green Building Council as the ultimate target. Innovative sustainable features such as renewable energy products, high performance building envelopes, automatic fresh air systems, as well as extensive recycling and reuse of waste materials, have been incorporated in the complex. Attesting to the Company’s commitment in this field, Parc 66 was awarded the gold standard in November 2011.
Founded in 1957, ICSC embarked upon the Asia Pacific Awards five years ago. The coveted awards set a standard of excellence for the Asian retail real estate industry, recognizing and honoring industry practitioners for their outstanding achievements in the design, development and marketing of retail properties in terms of vision, innovation and creativity.
