Press Release | Nov 18, 2014

(Hong Kong, November 18, 2014) A graduate with distinction from the Department of Architecture at The University of Hong Kong (HKU), Mr. Adrian Lo, Assistant Director – Project Construction of Hang Lung Properties Limited, led nearly 40 students on an architectural tour of the HKU campus last Saturday (November 15).

Mr. Lo, together with 15 volunteers from Hang Lung Properties Limited, explained the architectural style and cultural background of various buildings on campus, including the Main Building, Knowles Building and Eliot Hall.

Currently responsible for managing the construction works of Hang Lung Properties Limited in Tianjin, Kunming and Dalian, Mr. Lo, who graduated with distinction from HKU, also helped design the Universitys Chow Yei Ching Building. During the tour, Mr. Lo shared vignettes about his life as a student, which included staying up late to study and finish assignments. He also recalled the happiness and challenges encountered when designing the building years later.

“Introducing the buildings on the HKU campus is a perfect way to explain architecture to secondary school students, since it allows them to have a real-life frame of reference when selecting their future profession,” said Mr. Lo. “Hang Lung strives for perfection on project design, and at the same time it cares about the aesthetics and functionality of a building, which combine to enhance the quality of life of people in the community. The Company allows architects to effectively fulfill their mission.”

In addition to this architectural tour of HKU, volunteers from Hang Lung will organize another two tours in the coming two months. After receiving training from a professional architect from the Hong Kong Architecture Centre on how to appreciate the beauty of buildings in Hong Kong, volunteers will bring secondary school students from the Northern New Territories, organized by the Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association, to Central and Sheung Wan, giving them the chance to learn about the area’s historical buildings and their special architectural features, and to understand more about heritage conservation in Hong Kong.
