(Hong Kong, April 2, 2015) Hang Lung Properties’ prime shopping destination in Causeway Way, Fashion Walk, fully supports the showcasing of renowned contemporary artist Yoshitomo Nara’s first major solo exhibition in the city, titled “Hong Kong Jockey Club Presents – Life is Only One: Yoshitomo Nara”, organized by Asia Society Hong Kong Center. As the outreach partner of the exhibition, Fashion Walk will bring Naras works of art into the local community through various interactive activities. From today to April 26, the public will be able to immerse themselves in Nara’s works and gain a better understanding of the artist’s interpretation of life.
An interactive creative installation, SKETCH NARA, will be set up at G/F of Fashion Walk Main Block where the general public can create drawings based on their feelings and sentiments evoked from viewing the exhibition. They can scan their paintings and upload to the installation. Situated at 1/F of the Main Block, Nara’s Special Reading Corner will feature an array of books that are free for public viewing, including Nara’s notes, as well as his autobiography titled The Little Star Dweller and his first children’s book titled The Lonesome Puppy. These books will give readers a glimpse into the private mind of the artist and help people to understand the thoughts that first conceived the art. Nara’s inspiring quotes in his previous works will also be displayed in the Main Block. House of Nara will also be set up at Food Street, allowing visitors to appreciate the works of the artist from different perspectives.
An art jamming workshop, jointly organized by Fashion Walk and Asia Society Hong Kong Center, will be held on April 4 and 5. The workshop will be based on Nara’s favorite “Childhood” themed paintings, which will serve as an inspiration for participants to paint their own interpretations of the theme. Kannis Tang, a famous arts instructor with over 12 years of experience in teaching arts, and Tingmei Cheung, an experienced arts educator, will act as the instructors of the workshop. In addition, a Stamp Collection activity will also be held from today till April 26. Visitors collect one stamp each from Fashion Walk and Asia Society Hong Kong Center can redeem two pieces of limited edition Yoshitomo Nara postcards made in Japan.
