Yoshitomo Nara masterpieces are now showcased at Level 1 Atrium of The Peak Galleria.

(Hong Kong, April 30, 2015) The Peak Galleria and Kornhill Plaza under Hang Lung Properties fully support renowned contemporary artist, Yoshitomo Nara’s first major solo exhibition in the city – “The Hong Kong Jockey Club Presents – Life is Only One: Yoshitomo Nara”. As the outreach partner of this event, The Peak Galleria and Kornhill Plaza will bring the wider community into close contact with Nara’s works of art and engage the public and draw them into a deeper appreciation for and understanding of the artist and his works through a variety of activities.

Jointly organized by The Peak Galleria and Asia Society Hong Kong Center, a series of art workshops will be held on May 2 and 3 with Nara’s favorite theme, “Hear What I Say”, as the inspiration. Tingmei Cheung, the founder and art education director of Bloomkids Creative with over 20 years of art educational experience, and artist Leah Clough have been invited to be the instructors for the workshops. They will inspire participants to give artistic expression to their deepmost thoughts.

From now on till May 26, Nara’s inspiring artworks and hanging banners will be displayed at Level 1 Atrium of The Peak Galleria. A creative installation, Sketch Nara will also be set up at Level 2 where the public can express their feelings and sentiments evoked by the exhibition. Just beside the installation, visitors will find Nara’s Reading Corner featuring an array of Nara’s books for public’s reading.

In addition, from May 29 to June 28, Nara inspired decorations will be showcased at Exit A2 and C of MTR Taikoo Station connecting to Kornhill Plaza. Sculpture workshops will be held on June 20 and 21, with Nara’s adorable, “My Puppy”, as the theme. Nara’s puppy, the symbol of everyone’s much-loved childhood playmate, will serve as an inspiration for the participants, who will be able to create a 3D sculpture out of clay and other materials, to sculpt afresh their own childhood memories. Kornhill Plaza will also be cooperating with Swiss Art Studio, one of Hong Kongs largest art educational organizations specializing in Western fine art, to organize art workshops. Participants can let the experience of Nara’s beautiful works of art ignite their own imaginations and inspire them to be artists themselves.

A stamp collection activity will also be held during the activity period. Visitors who collect one stamp each from The Peak Galleria or Kornhill Plaza and Asia Society Hong Kong Center can redeem two pieces of Yoshitomo Nara limited edition postcards, which are made in Japan.
