Hang Lung Properties’ corporate social responsibility program, “Hang Lung Green LEEDers”, wins the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards 2015 under the Green Leadership Category by Enterprise Asia.

(Hong Kong, June 25, 2015) Hang Lung Properties Limited (HKSE stock code: 101) is proud to announce that the Company’s corporate social responsibility program, “Hang Lung Green LEEDers”, was awarded the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards 2015 under the Green Leadership Category by Enterprise Asia.

Hang Lung is keenly aware of the responsibilities it owes to the community at large. In recognition of its social duty as a good corporate citizen, the Company endeavors to give back to society by means of its community investment programs, which cover a wide spectrum of social needs, with a particular emphasis on youth development, promoting green living and services for the elderly.

“The award speaks volumes about the accomplishments that we have achieved in green initiatives over the years," C.F. Kwan, Assistant Director (Corporate Communications), said.

"As a top-tier property developer in Hong Kong and mainland China, we consistently aim at aligning the environmental performance standards of the Company’s buildings with international best practices. We also invest a lot in promoting green awareness in the community through various initiatives. ‘Hang Lung Green LEEDers’ allows both the participating youth and volunteers to learn the latest knowledge about environmental protection and to think about how our way of life affects the sustainable development of the community.” Kwan added.

The Company seeks to attain the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification issued by the U.S. Green Building Council for all new projects in mainland China. That is how the “Hang Lung Green LEEDers” was designed as well, with “LEED” standing for Low-carbon living, Eco-experience, Energy saving and Diversion of waste, as the major themes of its activities.

By participating in a series of activities, students discover up-to-date knowledge and understand more about the various environmental issues the world is facing. Staff volunteers also serve as tutors to share personal experiences of green living with them.

Since its launch in 2012, more than 500 students in Hong Kong and mainland China have participated in the program while over 200 staff volunteers have been recruited as tutors.

Enterprise Asia is a regional non-governmental organization aiming at encouraging continued corporate leadership towards sustainable economic development across Asia. It launched the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards in 2009 to recognize and honor Asian businesses for championing sustainable and responsible entrepreneurship in order to inculcate a culture of ethics and universal justice as part of a sustainable entrepreneurship framework. This year, more than 300 nominations were received under the six award categories, namely “Green Leadership”, “Investment in People”, “Health Promotion”, “Social Empowerment”, “SME CSR” and “Responsible Business Leader”. An in-depth search and selection process was carried out, composed of an initial screening, audit verification, score carding and final judging by an independent panel of juries – business leaders, academics and retired senior government and political leaders, on the basis of a scorecard system assessing the program’s delivery in achieving innovation, solution orientation, results, sustainability and integration.
