(Hong Kong, September 6, 2015) Forty volunteers from Hang Lung Properties Limited (HKSE stock code: 101) took part in today’s “Jade Club DuoRun 3KM” of the “Hong Kong Streetathon”, organized by RunOurCity. A number of volunteers partnered with their younger or older family members to join the race, which promotes active aging and encourages elderly people to lead a dynamic and healthy social life. Veteran runner Mr. C.F. Kwan, Assistant Director (Corporate Communications), who has over 10 years’ experience of running marathons teamed up with his 88-year-old mother, while novice Mr. Gabriel Cheung, Assistant Director (Cost & Controls), partnered with his 15-year-old daughter to experience the joy of running.
Over the years, the Hang Lung As One volunteer team has initiated and supported a wide variety of voluntary services tailored to suit the needs of elderly people. The “Streetathon” has gained popularity in Hong Kong in recent years, and the volunteer team participated this year to encourage colleagues and their family members to take part in this unique “family” activity for a good cause. To prepare for the race, the volunteer team organized a training day with a professional coach who shared tips on how teams can cooperate better and also show their sportsmanship. Among those taking part, there were many different family combinations, such as mother and son, father and daughter, mother and daughter, husband and wife, and so on. Hang Lung also won the Top Participation Award (first runner up).
