(Hong Kong, September 29, 2015) This Halloween, Kornhill Plaza under Hang Lung Properties is collaborating with the Hong Kong Origami Society to present Hong Kong’s first “Origami Halloween”. To take origami art to an immersive new level, a series of origami-inspired Halloween decorations on an actual 1:1 scale will be displayed at Kornhill Plaza. These include the mall’s magnificent life-size origami witch along with other ghosts, vampires and pumpkins. This special Halloween spectacle also features an array of exciting Halloween activities and workshops to celebrate this festival with shoppers!

From now until November 1, Kornhill Plaza will be transformed into a magical origami paradise. Exemplifying various origami techniques, an exciting array of origami-inspired decorations will be showcased inside the mall. A life-size origami witch, holding a broom and floating with an origami ghost, will be casting Happy Halloween spells above the mezzanine floor. Origami vampires and pumpkins are ready to welcome customers at the entrance of the South Tower (Exit C of MTR Tai Koo Station). These delightful decorations, together with the comical poses of various Halloween characters, will dispel the spooky atmosphere of Halloween, replacing it with lots of fun and a rich artistic experience that will captivate visitors of all ages.

On every Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday during the promotion period, shoppers spending HK$300 or above at Kornhill Plaza can redeem a Halloween Pumpkin Shopping Bag. Shoppers can register for the Halloween Origami Workshop on the day of Halloween and get a free Ghost Candy Floss treat on designated dates simply by clicking “Like” on the Kornhill Plaza Facebook Page.

Additionally, Kornhill Plaza has joined forces with the Asia Society Hong Kong Center to present a bat exhibition corner at the mall’s main entrance, and to host a Ceramic Cup Family Painting Workshop on October 3 and 10, which uses traditional Chinese craftsmanship to create blessings using Western Halloween Bat motifs as an auspicious symbol. These workshops are a spin-off program of the “Bat Cave: Treasures of the Day and Creatures of the Night” exhibition organized by the Asia Society Hong Kong Center, currently running at the Society’s Chantal Miller Gallery, showcasing over 70 exquisite traditional and contemporary Chinese objects with bat motifs.
