Press Release | Dec 2, 2015

(Hong Kong, December 2, 2015) Hang Lung Properties is pleased to announce that the Company’s landmark project in Tianjin, Riverside 66, has garnered the Gold Awards in the categories of “Best Innovative Green Building” and “Best Retail Development” in the MIPIM Asia Awards 2015. The awards are strong recognition of Hang Lung’s dedication to the highest standards in architectural design, seeking to display the perfect unity of aesthetics, creativity and practicability while at the same time incorporating a full range of green initiatives.

The award presentation ceremony was held yesterday (December 1), officiated by Mrs. Carrie Lam, Chief Secretary for Administration, Government of the HKSAR, being the guest of honor. Mr. Adriel Chan, Senior Manager (Directors’ Office), received the awards on behalf of Hang Lung Properties.

Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates PC, P&T Architects, Benoy and opened in September 2014, Riverside 66 has an outstanding design that has been widely acclaimed by a number of international awards. The project is renowned for its unique façade extending approximately 380 meters long. The stylish shopping mall takes its design from Chinese culture and blends agreeably into the surroundings. The display wall on the south side incorporates the concept of traditional Chinese curio shelves, showcasing the historic features of nearby Heping Road. The façade on the north side is a glass structure that curves dramatically upward to seven levels above the riverside. This superb shell is built with over 10,000 glass panels and 22 seven-story high concrete ribs, creating a fully transparent shopping space that customers can look into from surrounding streets.

Riverside 66 is another showcase of Hang Lung’s commitment to developing sustainable buildings. Green measures such as the building envelope design, the use of a heat recovery system, energy-efficient lighting, elevators and escalators allow this mega mall to minimize its operational impact on the surrounding environment. Hang Lung has also invested generously in preserving the century-old building, Zhejiang Xingye Bank, situated at the southeast corner of the mall. Riverside 66 was also awarded the Gold Certification under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Core and Shell Development by the U.S. Green Building Council.
