An Elegant Blend of Luxury and Culture

The overall design, jointly crafted by MQ Studio from Shanghai and Nao Architects from Tokyo, ingeniously weaves unique cultural elements and the natural landscape of Kunming and the Yunnan province into the Hotel’s aesthetic.

Upon entering the Hotel, visitors are greeted by a glamorous lobby bathed in golden light. The floor’s intricate patterns echo the famous terraced rice fields of Yunnan. These fields are mirrored and inverted in the vaulted ceilings, enveloping guests in a modernized version of the region’s breathtaking beauty by the patterned metal tubes.

Adorning the entrance hall are two striking installations: a cloud-like glass sculpture and a piece inspired by the iconic Dian Lake. These artistic choices create a harmonious dialogue between earth and sky, enhancing the Hotel’s captivating ambience. At the reception area, guests encounter a ceiling that glows with soft green light, echoing Yunnan’s bountiful copper mining industry through a modern and abstract artistic approach.

In addition to drawing inspiration from the province’s rich natural landscapes, the Hotel also seamlessly integrates elements of local culture. A stunning piece at the reception area using the traditional tie-dye technique showcases fabric knots meticulously twisted and dyed in different shades of blues, rendered into the Chinese character for “spring”, a fitting tribute to Kunming as the “City of Eternal Spring”.

The Grand Ballroom and Meeting Rooms are as stunning as they are functional. The rows of chandeliers over the foyer draw inspiration from Yunnan’s age-old cliff honey-gathering tradition, representing a modern take on the bamboo rods used by those historically brave enough to harvest honey from treacherous heights.

Not only does the room design provide a comfortable environment and ample amenities, it also playfully hints at the region’s biodiversity – animals are hidden in different corners, as if intertwining Yunnan’s natural ecology within the room, making the stay more interesting and enjoyable.

The seamless and thoughtful blend of Yunnan elements with contemporary aesthetics lavishly expresses the cultural heritage and natural beauty of the region, delivering a profound experience that fuses the historical and the traditional.
